E1000 – which will emulate a 1 Gbit Intel 82545EM card, and is available for most operating systems since the generation of Windows Server 2003. This card is the default when creating almost all virtual machines and is by that widely used. If during this process you are asked for the driver or module name, the name for the Linux Base Driver for the Intel® PRO/1000 family of adapters is e1000. As an example, if you install the e1000 driver for two PRO/1000 adapters (eth0 and eth1) and set the speed and duplex to 10full and 100half, add the following to modules.conf or /etc. Intel Ethernet Connection I219-V not working under Linux on an ASUSPRO B laptop, e1000e driver reports: “The NVM Checksum Is Not Valid”. Most intel drivers are written by people not associated to intel. Which undergoes a checksum, and the older version of the e1000 driver was not aware of the NVM contents of the newer chips.
End Of Life - This download, Network Adapter Driver for Gigabit PCI Based Network Connections for Linux* 8.0.35, will no longer be available after Sept. 6, 2019 and will not be supported with any additional functional, security, or other updates. All versions are provided as is. Intel recommends that users of Network Adapter Driver for Gigabit PCI Based Network Connections for Linux* 8.0.35 upgrade to the latest driver version at your earliest convenience.
The E1000 vNIC is supported and can be selected for the Windows XP Professional 32-bit and Windows 2000 32-bit guest operating systems. However, Microsoft does not provide the E1000 driver with the Windows XP 32-bit releases. The driver must be downloaded separately.
NOTE: The e1000 driver is scheduled to change to a kernel only support model on/around Q2 of 2012. If you have open issues you would like to see resolved, please submit them through http://sourceforge.net/projects/e1000/ as soon as possible.--

hello,
yesterday, we recieved a new dell poweredge 9200 server with installation of ESX 3.0.2 server. this server contains 2x broadcom network adapters and 2x Intel QUAD 1000 network adapters (i think/hope e1000 drivers). we tried so many ways how to load e1000 modules, but every attempt has finished with error:
Using /lib/modules/2.4.21-47.0.1.ELvmnix/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.o
/lib/modules/2.4.21-47.0.1.ELvmnix/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.o: init_module: No such device
The hundred crack fist of the north star. Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
i have applied all patches from 3.0.2 update 1 .iso and still with no result.
is there anybody who knows, how to solve this problem?
thanks a lot
